Thu Bui (Hong Minh Thu Bui) earned her bachelor’s degree with honors in Computer Science and Mathematics from Trinity College in 2021, where she worked with Professors Ryan Pellico and Ewa Syta. She is currently a Computer Science Ph.D. student at Purdue University, advised by Professor Sooyeon Jeong. Her current research focuses on human-centered AI and multimodal, Large Language Model (LLM)-driven social agents for personalized mental-health assessment and support. She designs agents that build rapport, provide context-aware assistance, and adapt to users’ needs and behaviors. Her work is grounded in a strong machine-learning background in Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), generative-model evaluation, and out-of-distribution (OOD) robustness.
